چکیده

This study concerns the two-body scattering of particles in a one-dimensional periodic potential. A convenient ansatz allows for separation center-of-mass and relative motion, leading to discrete Schr\"odinger equation motion that resembles tight-binding model. lattice Green's function is used develop Lippmann-Schwinger equation, ultimately derive multi-band K-matrix which described detail two-band approximation. Two distinct lengths are defined according limits zero quasi-momentum at top bottom edges collision band. Scattering resonances occur band when energy coincident with bound state attached another higher or lower Notably, repulsive on-site interactions an energetically closed lead excited

One-dimensional phase transitions in a two-dimensional optical lattice

A phase transition for bosonic atoms in a two-dimensional anisotropic optical lattice is considered. If the tunnelling rates in two directions are different, the system can undergo a transition between a two-dimensional superfluid and a one-dimensional Mott insulating array of strongly coupled tubes. The connection to other lattice models is exploited in order to better understand the phase tra...

Mott-insulator phase of coupled one-dimensional atomic gases in a two-dimensional optical lattice.

We consider the 2D Mott-insulator state of a 2D array of coupled finite size 1D Bose gases. It is shown that the momentum distribution in the lattice plane is very sensitive to the interaction regime in the 1D tubes. In particular, we find that the disappearance of the interference pattern in time-of-flight experiments is a clear consequence of the strongly interacting Tonks-Girardeau regime al...

A New Guideline for the Allocation of Multipoles in the Multiple Multipole Method for Two Dimensional Scattering from Dielectrics

A new guideline for proper allocation of multipoles in the multiple multipole method (MMP) is proposed. In an ‘a posteriori’ approach, subspace fitting (SSF) is used to find the best location of multipole expansions for the two dimensional dielectric scattering problem. It is shown that the best location of multipole expansions (regarding their global approximating power) coincides with the med...
